Raincne
Yes, it has been quite a Tick since we Tocked! My tour of the U.S. through AAU
basketball gyms continues, but there's nothing like being back home in the land
of the big sky (and bigger sun). Chances are if you need rain, you either saw way
too much or way too little, and if you didn't need any, same thing. What's the
point? Well, exactly. These pesky summer thunderstorms are maddening in that they
build over an area, rain out without really moving, and then die. If you're lucky,
they'll move in some odd direction like SW or straight south due to an outflow
boundary, but they can often produce some strong-to-severe winds as they
collapse. You can see that on yesterday's max gust map, with some orange and
red colored wind speeds there to indicate where those storms were, just in case
you didn't want to look at pimple-faced Jim Carrey in the map above.
There is another chance for some raincne today, and strong-to-severe winds, mostly
down in south central Oklahoma.
Other than that, we will continue in a full summertime pattern with highs in
the mid-90s to 100s, and heat index values even higher than that. Think
yesterday, but add 5 degrees. And with lots of sunshine to go along, heat stress
will be soaring.
Saturday will be hot hot HOT in advance of a cold front that will eventually
cool us down early next week, but the heat is scheduled to return pretty
quickly.
A few rain chances here and there today and again with the cold front, but for
the most part, pretty dry as could be expected for late July into early August.
Not even sure Clearasil can help this weather pattern out. Try washing the
state's face with some mild cleanser (or go full Okie like I do and use some
Lava Soap).
