Maybruary?
WHAT IN THE WILD WILD WORLD OF SPORTS IS A'GOING ON HERE? What is it with May
11ths in Oklahoma now? Those forecast temperatures for tomorrow are downright
February-ish (maybe early March for the east, but "Mayearlyarch" just doesn't
ring a bell). Check this out...the lowest high temperature I can find for any
May 11 in Oklahoma is 48 degrees, set back in 1954 at Boise City AND LAST YEAR at
the Bartlesville airport! So on this day a year ago, here was our forecast map
for May 11.
Look familiar? I thought so. If the forecast holds for tomorrow, we may see
records fall. I shudder (literally) at what we might see next May 11. But today is
no prize either. We're already seeing vastly different temperatures across eastern
Oklahoma vs. this time yesterday, and we're headed for maybe early March (tried
that word-mash already) today.
We will see a chance for rain today, mostly in southern and northern Oklahoma.
Maybe a few strong storms along the Red River. More rain chances tomorrow,
probably a little better than today. Then more rain chances to end the week.
Temperatures will start to rise again as we get past this little burst of late
winter. Don't know about you, but I'm ready for a few more bursts of late
summer! Late spring for the faint of heart. Wait, we're already there? Could
have fooled me.
