Apruary?

Hey, better Apruary than Janupril. Even better than Farch (I've heard the jokes).
This is getting a bit ridiculous. We need to be outside, enjoying sunshine!
Some folks are probably outside in this, enjoying it, and will soon need
professional help. Never mind that it feels like winter outside. And if it feels
like winter, it might as well BE winter.

Where's the snow? Where's the hot chocolate and red noses? Yeah, I thought so.
Nobody wants this REALLY, do they. And it's not gonna get too much better for
awhile. A front tomorrow will chill things down again, regardless of cloud cover,
making for a BLAH weekend.

The good news, I guess, is that we are seeing moisture without a lot of severe
weather behind it. It has generally brightened out drought outlook, despite
a bit of a surge in drought this past week.

The last 30 days have been dry, but not THAT dry now.

The CPC outlooks aren't quite so rosy, with a very warm May and May-July in
store according to their look ahead, and increased odds of drier than normal
weather possible as well.

Well GOOD! Now I don't like the dry outlook...that would just make my job
tracking drought that much busier. But bring that heat. I don't care at this
point if we see the hottest May on record, I've had too much cool weather. When
we look back on May 2021, I hope people think "Oh yeah, the month we lived on
the surface of the sun!" Okay, maybe not the entire month, but how about a
weekend like that?

At any rate, with temp and precip outlooks like that, it makes for a depressing
drought outlook through July.

I'm not TOO worried, because we do have out wettest period of the year knocking
on our doorstep...mid-April through June (or June-July if you're in the
Panhandle).

As with nearly everything, however...better than January!
