Manifest Dessication

Western Oklahoma needs rain, and also needs all the help from Phil Conners that it
can get. There is a decent amount of rain leeching over into western parts of the
state on that 7-day rain forecast, but we need it even farther out into the
Panhandle. Just check out the pitiful rainfall amounts we've seen in some parts
of the western half of the state since the beginning of climatological spring, and
then how it's gotten even worse over the last 30 days or so.

And don't forget the heat we've had that way over the last couple of weeks, and
also the wind has been kicking up, too. All three of these factors make the
loss of soil and surface moisture accelerate, thus spreading and intensifying
drought as well. And we have seen more areas of drought pop up over the last
week, and some spread to the southeast from that area.

Today's rain is going to come with some hefty storms, possibly, so as we said
yesterday: STAY WEATHER AWARE!
