You'll freeze your pumpkins off

This is why we can't have nice things. Oh, we had fall already (last Tuesday), so
I guess we can't complain that we have gone straight to winter. But danged if
my hard and fast rule of no coats until November (sometimes December!) has done
been broken. Maybe I'm getting old and my bones demanded it, but I popped off the
dry cleaner's plastic off my coat and threw it on this morning. With wind chills
currently in the 20s and 30s, can I really be blamed?

And then comes MORE snow, on the heels of last week's record-breaking performance
up northwest (Arnett with 13 inches, the greatest October snowfall total on
record for the state...highest total this early as well, obviously). Not only
snow, the most dastardly of all winter weather types outside of wind chills in
the negative 20s and below...freezing rain! Doesn't look like any weather
advisories are warranted as of now save for the Panhandle, but that could
definitely change. It doesn't take a lot of ice to make things go kerflooey.

The big question would be Halloween night, and it does appear the weather will
clear out by that morning and we'll be left with a frigid Halloween night. The
top map with the scary snowman shows the overnight lows for Halloween night, so
not QUITE that cold that evening, but headed in that direction. Expect wind
chills to be in the 20s and 30s around the witching hour (for our purposes,
the witching hour will be 7pm; prime trick or treating time) and headed lower
as the night progresses.

Luckily we'll be warming up next wee...WHAT THE!?!

I best leave it at that. And remember, frozen pumpkins are better than soggy
popcorn balls.
