One Fall day only, Vasily
As Shiela E. once said..."Without fall. It ain't much." At least that's the way
I heard it. And yes, I am that old. And honestly, this will be but a mini-fall,
a preview if you will. I won't, but I heard you will...SCANDALOUS! Anyway, it's
enough to give us a nice Friday after a bit of rain, we hope. Yes, chance of
storms. Shouldn't be too bad, per Oklahoma's standards; heavy rain, lightning, and
some strong winds are your biggest threats. Watch out Fair-goers! You want a
soggy cinnamon roll in the face? Yeah, I thought so.
Then we get 80s for Friday.
Back to the back burner after that for awhile...maybe a cooldown late next week.
We'll see on that one. But we really do need the rain. The 10 days since good
storms over much of the state, coupled with above normal temps, has kept the
pressure on the moisture supply. Today's new Drought Monitor shows a bit of
strengthening in the southwest AND the southeast.
Easy to see why. Here are the percent of normal Mesonet rainfall maps from
30-120 days, showing why we have extreme drought in southwest OK, and why
we don't have it in some other parts of the state.
Chew on that awhile. No, not the cinnamon roll! Unless you get us one, too.
