Argh!
Too soon?
But come on, volcano jokes? A volcano would feel pretty good right about now.
Who's with me? Okay, who's *secretly* with me but not wanting to be associated
with me? Okay, 3 people. That's a quorum. The heat has come on strong once again,
thanks to the dreaded HEAT DOME OF DOOM moving over the Southern Plains again.
And I remember when folks were saying we wouldn't have much heat this summer
because of all the rain. Remember that?

"But I also expect periods of unbearable heat. It's darned near inevitable.
Sometimes maybe just a day or two, other times a week or two. Heat indices into
the 110 degrees and higher range. The kind of oppressive conditions that make
those Alaska cruises look pretty darned nice."
Quoting oneself? How crass! But I get so few things right, I really have to
point them out when I do. And we're not done yet. Today could be equal or even
hotter than yesterday.
The good news is we do have a pretty good cold front coming through later
today that will cool things down to more seasonal temperatures, and bring a
bit of rain. At least rain chances. We're not talking much here, and most of
it will be across northern Oklahoma, but the cool down will be much welcomed.
No need to get TOO excited about the rain. This ain't a flash-drought ender.
Maybe a flash-drought delayer? At any rate, any moisture would be welcomed.
Then, back to the heat. Man, a nice cloud of ash would do us wonders later
today.
