Gloat 'em if you got 'em
It's mid-July, the most miserably hot part of the year with temperatures soaring
and enough humidity left from spring rains to make Oklahoma a sauna. ALL RULES
OF DECORUM AND ETIQUETTE ARE OFF! Gloating is allowed. Bragging is justified.
So who else woke up on Sunday morning to the sound of thunder and a nice hard
rainfall?
(let it out)
Oh yeah, well same to you! That is a nice map for a July weekend, however. Some
decent rains, which then brought a bit of cooling to those locales, at least for
awhile. But that also leaves us with a chaotic 7-day rainfall map. Looks like
Mother Nature let a rabbit loose in the living room (Oklahoma), dropping storm
pellets all over the place.
We are faced with a burgeoning flash drought situation across much of the state,
at least for those that aren't already in drought (short- or long-term). July
is dry even for July around here.
Well, expect more of the same. Some storms here and there the next couple of days.
If you're under one of them, enjoy the rain, avoid the lightning, and brag
about it to your dry neighbors. But make no mistake, it's gonna be HOT! And as
usual, eastern Oklahoma will get the steam bath, while western Oklahoma gets
the convection oven.
It's okay. Happens every year. Fall's just around the corner. Unfortunately,
we're currently driving on a circle.
