Bah, Rain SMASH!

The Hulk might have wimped out in the Infinity War (SPOILER ALERT!), but he's
doing some damage to the drought across the southeastern half of Oklahoma. Well,
if the Hulk came in the form of period storms and heavy rain, that is. The only
trouble is, Thanos seems to be ruling the northwestern half of the state still.
And the changes this week are fairly small, but if you're in central Oklahoma,
they are noticeable. This change map will help you notice the fine tuning.

'Tis a scratch. No, ?tis not so deep as a well nor so wide as a church-door,
but ?tis enough, ?twill serve.

There, we've quoted Hulk AND Shakespeare. What else can you ask for? Well, how
about some rain? It's raining now, as a matter of fact. Not a lot, but 'tis...
okay, enough of that! It's not a lot, but it's better than nothing, right? Some
places have gotten about a quarter-inch (or less).

There will be minor rain chances, or at least chances for minor rains, over
the next few days, with the best chances for significant rain coming early next
week. Parts of the drought-stricken area could see over an inch of rain, and
areas to the east that are in danger of slipping back into drought could get a
bit more.

The unfortunate part is we're going to go through a bit more summer to get to
that rain. Friday looks smoking hot, and don't be smoking because the fire
danger will be increasing across western Oklahoma...especially in the Panhandle.

We wish we could snap our fingers and have half the state's drought go away,
but we don't have the Drought Gauntlet (and Thanos doesn't wear glasses). We've
said many times on this here Ticker device that droughts tend to end two
ways in Oklahoma...the death of a thousand smaller rains, or by a deluge of
flooding proportions. We'd take the former, but that's a forecast for another
day.
