It'll get better before it gets worse

QUOTETH THE TICKER (nevermore?): "But, there will be a better chance of showers
and storms early next week with a cold front. It's not a gully washer, but
perhaps enough to provide some moist shade for awhile."

Now fast forward to "early next week"

Uhhh, does 4-6 inches in a few hours count as a gully washer? How about the radar-
indicated 8 inches-plus amounts? Judging by the flash flood warnings and water
rescues, we not only washed the gullies but probably strangled a few toads as well.
And the rain continues this morning.

That blob is what added the 1-2 inches across far western Oklahoma down to I-40
and beyond with the flood advisories in that area (in purple) combined with the
aftermath of yesterday.

So when I underestimate, I REALLY underestimate. And we will continue with the
chance of rain for the next couple of days before we turn back to summer and
suffer the heat. Severe weather chances are also on the rise today and tomorrow.
Slight chances, but chances nonetheless, mostly across northern Oklahoma. Heads
up in the Panhandle today!

Here's a broader view of today and tomorrow's severe weather outlook from the
Storm Prediction Center.

After this, get ready for the heat. The Tulsa NWS offices has a nice graphic
preparing for that, with heat indices expected to rise into the 105-110 degrees
range!

And NWS Norman sums the week up in a nutshell (graphic).

Yeah, I like the heat. I'm from the Panhandle...DRY HEAT. Not the humidity. Ugh.

So enjoy the better. It's about to get worse.
