Apparently, it's going to get cold again
Do ya enjoy the warm weather, like yesterday's version?
Today will not be as warm, but we did just end a nice 5-day preview of spring,
or in Oklahoma what we call that 4 or 5 days in April before in the 70s and 80s
before we hit the 90s in May and everybody says "we went from winter right into
spring." The statistics bear that out, both for the last 5 days and also February
thus far.

That's more like what we saw during the second half of January (just without the
decent rains, at least in southern Oklahoma). The high temperatures have been
well above normal, especially relative to the low temperatures. December was
above normal as well, if you recall, except that warmth was driven mostly by
above normal low temperatures. So APPARENTLY...we're going to end up with a
very warm climatological winter (December-February) through a variety of
scenarios.
That brings us to our next cooldown, at least after the one we'll see for the
next couple of days before we get some more above normal days again this
weekend.
Then we'll see more arctic air slide in from the north as we get into Sunday
and then another surge of cold air looks possible Monday night/Tuesday. There
will also be a chance for precipitation, possibly wintry types as well, as a
low pressure trough moves across from the west. That's starting to light up
the CPC outlook maps with increased odds of above normal precip (and below
normal temperatures).
Moisture amounts are starting to tick up a bit, but no deluges appear imminent
at this time.
That cold air could stick around for much of next week and even longer, but
we'll have to wait a bit for that forecast to become a bit less fuzzy.
