On An Autumn Afternoon

The West Wind found me stressed Today at One
Among the work I knew that must be done
"West Wind," I growled, "I have no time to play.
It's best if you just go about your way"

The West Wind, armed with all the charms of Fall
Provoked me with this captivating call:
"You're younger now than you will ever be
And young men should come out and play with me"

"West Wind," I smiled, "I've all this work to do
I'll meet you on the lawn at Half Past Two
I thank you for your visit on this day
Don't wait for me, just go about your way"

I strode onto the lawn at Ten Past Three
And realized that I had come to be
The moment I had stepped into the Sun
A younger man than I had been at One

"West Wind," I tried, but had no words to say
They failed to frame the magic of this day

The West Wind smiled and went about his way.

We Now Resume Our Regular Programming

We've seen many tiems that, in the absence of cloud or winds,
overnight temps can drop precipitously. This morning gave us a
quick reminder (thanks, morning!) that the dewpoint temperature
often provides a rough "bottom" for this descent. Notice how the
just-after-sunrise temps are hanging around the dewpoints:
