What is this stuff, anyway?
Well, for the first time in a long, long time, we have the privilege
of writing about a multi-day, multi-inch rainfall event. Through noon,
with rain still falling lightly in the east, here are the top 15 precip
totals since the fun started this weekend:
Walters 5.91" Pauls Valley 5.31" Cloudy 4.94"
Byars 5.80" Tipton 5.12" Centrahoma 4.81"
Grandfield 5.46" Bowlegs 5.06" Vanoss 4.79"
Sulphur 5.43" Ketchum Ranch 4.96" Newport 4.61"
Hugo 5.41" Ringling 4.95" Mt. Herman 4.38"
Unfortunately, it hasn't been fun for everyone. Heavy rains and
associated floodwaters caused numerous problems throughout the state.
Also unfortunately, not all of Oklahoma could participate. North of
I-40 and west of I-35, precip was minimal. A map of the totals is
available at
(final update: 4:00 pm).
Mesonet Move Continues
The following comes from OCS Technology Director Mike Wolfinbarger:
The Oklahoma Mesonet Operations Center will be completing its move
to the National Weather Center this week. We plan to move several
pieces of equipment after business hours on Monday and Tuesday and
during business hours on Wednesday. We have implemented and deployed
redundant systems to ensure the continued availability of our data
and products. As a result, we do not anticipate any downtime or
product delays of more than a few minutes. But in the event that
unforeseen problems should occur, we want you to be aware of our
activities.
Our first official shift in the new Operations Center is scheduled
for Wednesday morning at 7:00 AM. The Operations Center phone number
and email address will remain the same:
OCS/Mesonet Operations Center
Tel: 405-325-3231
Email: operator@mesonet.org
Please don't hesitate to contact us to report a problem, or if you
have questions or concerns about our services.
