Drought Lingers; Fire Conditions Exacerbated by Weather
A re-emergence of fire as the recent "hazard of the day" underscores
the interplay between timescales in the ongoing drought (or the latest
in a series of droughts, depending on your perspecitve). When an
episode emerges (or intensifies, or re-emerges, or however you want to
characterize it), fire danger often bears the "canary in the coalmine"
status.
Going further, we are not too far away from the ability to state,
assertively, that drought and drought impacts have characterized this
decade in the Sooner State, much like the 1910s, 1930s and the 1950s.
