Record Highs Across Much of Oklahoma
Today's warmth probably erased several records set on November 8, 1980,
as the following maps suggest:
Records:
Today:
The large-font records are "official" records at stations with at
least 50 years of data. The fonts get progressively smaller as the
period of record gets punier.
Keep in mind that we're comparing apples and oranges here: today's
values come from the Oklahoma Mesonet and the historical values come
from the National Weather Service's Cooperative Observer Network.
In other words, they ain't official until they're official.
And, don't weep for 1980. It still owns a few hundred records of its
own. Besides, it certainly didn't show much compassion 25 years ago.
