Ticker Turns Seven Tomorrow

On Thursday, the Entire Ticker Staff celebrates the seven-year
anniversary of the OCS/Mesonet Ticker's first issuance. Somehow,
this marriage of clumsy writing with pitiful editing has worked
(we have found that skillful plagiarism really, really helps).
We are also very proud that the Ticker Staff hasn't lost a single
member yet.

Ironically, the Ticker was initially launched in 1998 to help keep
citizens and decision-makers abreast of information related to
a developing drought. Let's hope that function is not repeated any
more in 2005.

So, we enter our next year with the same solemn vow:

We at the Ticker promise to produce weather and climate content
with all of the piercing wit, artistic skill, technical precision,
dogged resolve, steadfast reliability and keen relevance that you
would expect from a seven-year-old.
