A Delightfully Delightful Aberration

Neither Oklahoma City nor Tulsa has recorded a temperature exceeding
90 degrees in the last half of this month. Tulsa hit 90 on the 17th,
and OKC did the same on the 16th and 17th, but neither has gone any
higher.

Forecasts for tomorrow and Wednesday indicate high temps in the mid-80s.
So, there's a significant chance that the last 15 days of the month
will see nothing exceeding 90. How rare would this be?

Quite rare. In fact, it's unprecedented at the Tulsa station.
That's right, Tulsa has never done it in the 56 years of observations
at Tulsa Int'l Airport. The official OKC station (now at Will Rogers
Int'l Airport) has only done so once during that span, in 1975.

Here's a quick look that the number of 91+ temps in the last half
of each June during the period:

(The zero for June 1993 at OKC reflects a month of missing temperature
data. It has been quality-assured into oblivion, presumably related
to transition to the ASOS station there)

Anyway, 2004 might just deliver an extraodinarily non-hot last half
of June. We won't complain to Mother Nature if you won't!
