Ticker Returns to Drying State
The Ticker returns from a four-week hiatus today. Much of the hiating
was done at the Western Regional Climate Center in Reno, Nevada, where
the Entire Ticker Staff traded ideas with one of the nation's best
climate shops.
When returning from a long trip away from home, it's great to see
familiar sights that haven't changed: scissortails, red dirt, and
Oklahoma skies. However, one feature that needed to change during
the last month were the numbers on the year-to-date rainfall map.
Most of them didn't change much, and familiarity breeds contempt
when it comes to summer rainfall totals.
Here are the stats from the last 30 days:

The epicenter of dry conditions in early summer was north central
Oklahoma, but all portions of the state endured a pretty miserable
late June and early July.
The southeastern third of the state continues a longer-term dry spell.
More on the state's droughty conditions in tomorrow's Ticker.
