Rainfall Totals
The rains in northwestern Oklahoma over the last two days are staggering:
These rainfall numbers go far to show the feast-or-famine nature of
Oklahoma's Octobers. One of the elements typical of heavy October rains
was present in this week's event: a stalled or slow-moving cold front.
However (thankfully), the other factor in our most torrential October
rainfall events was not present: the remnants of a tropical storm.
Pacific hurricanes Norma (1981), Tico (1983) and Paine (1986) poured
a foot or more during Octobers of recent years.
