That's a Cold Front!

Northwestern Oklahoma is now draped under a shallow blanket of very
cool air, with temperatures as much as 35 degrees less than yesterday
at this time:

The front continues to trigger storms as it crawls across the state.
The Mesonet station at Kenton recorded a gust of 60 mph at 8:25 pm
yesterday, and those at Woodward, Camargo and Cheyenne have recorded
more than an inch of rainfall so far.

Enjoy the Butterflies

Central Oklahomans with a butterfly garden (the Ticker recommends the
lantana plant) in the backyard were treated to a beautiful showing
of the Monarch Butterfly this week. However, the northerly winds
behind the front may mean fewer near-ground sightings during the next
few days. For details, visit this Ticker from last autumn:

The Ticker's 15 Minutes?

Last month's Ticker regarding rainbow optics was recently featured
as the University Space Research Association's Earth Sciences Picture
of the Day! The EPOD is a great place to read more about planetary
goings-on:
