News Flash: It's Cold and Windy

You may not have noticed that temperaures have plunged statewide in
the last 24-48 hours, so the Ticker would like to be the first to
inform you: it's pretty cold.

In fact, about half of the state's 114 Mesonet stations have indicated
below-zero wind chill values since midnight - and that's with the new
conservative calculation!  With the "old" calculation (used up until
this season), almost every station would have reported below-zero
wind chills.

Here is a map of today's minimum wind chill index for each Mesonet
site (these are the minimum five-minute averages):
