October Leaves Western Oklahoma Dry

October 2001 was quite dry for the much of northern and western parts
of the state. Preliminary data indicates that the panhandle climate
division observed its second driest October since such records began
in 1895. The table below gives the details.

In fact, it has been more than a month since significant rain has
fallen at many Oklahoma Mesonet stations. The following graphic shows
the number of consecutive calendar days with less than one-quarter inch
of rain:
