SPECIAL MESSAGE FROM THE OKLAHOMA MESONETWORK - Tuesday, August 15th

A telecommunications hardware failure in Oklahoma City has interrupted
real-time Mesonet data and products for much of the state this evening.

Mesonet personnel are actively employing a workaround for this event.
Data are still being collected in the field, and will be archived
normally, but real-time and near-real-time Mesonet products will be
sporadic tonight.

The possibility of an event like this has been the impetus behind the
Mesonet's ongoing and extensive upgrade of its communications
infrastructure to utilize new equipment and technology.

We will issue a situation update Wednesday.
