You Don't See That Every Day

Today's Ticker would like to celebrate a rare event from last week.
Like baseball's perfect game, or basketball's triple-double, Halley's
Comet, a well-written Ticker, or no rainfall on the day you wash your
car, some rare events just need to be recognized.

The Ticker's rare event (drum roll, please) ... the appearance of the
wind pennant on Mesonet current weather maps (cue brass band!).

That's right, even in Oklahoma, you don't witness sustained winds of
50 mph or more over a five-minute period very often - which means you
don't get a chance to see the wind pennant plotted on the weather map
very often. But, thanks to last week's thunderstorms, it occurred
sixteen times! And we've saved three for posterity.

So, sit back, enjoy the appearance of the Grand Old Hermit of the
Weather Map, and try to keep your exictement in check:
