Solar Radiation We Could Do Without
What does the sun have in common with vandals, gophers, lightning and
spiders? They're all hazards to real-time Mesonet data! The increase
in solar activity during the last ten days or so has played havoc with
the stations' ability to communicate with base stations around the
state. Thankfully, Mesonet operators and technicians have been able
to combat the situation.
A more detailed report on this and related Mesonet communication
issues is coming in a special edition of the Ticker. You should
receive the special edition tonight or tomorrow morning.

already extended the streak (for example, Waurika's streak is now
ten days) as of 3:00 pm today.
