Pretty Pictures

Today, with the advent of Hurricane Floyd, the Ticker would like to
once again venture out of Oklahoma for its content.  We like to call
this "thinking outside the box" in Ticker board meetings.

The visible satellite image shows a very large Floyd over the Bahamas,

but an interesting feature is a very well-defined and tidy band of
cloudiness associated with a surface front that stretches from near
New Orleans up the Appalachians:
