Dry Air Invades Northwestern Oklahoma
Downsloping winds behind a surface trough in far northwestern Oklahoma
have brought extraordinarily dry air and gusty winds into the region.
Mesonet dew points in the panhandle have been subzero (Fahrenheit!)
for much of the afternoon, and wind gusts above 40 mph have been common.
At 4:00 pm, Boise City was reporting a dew point of 11 below zero
and winds gusting to 40 mph.
As a result, fire danger in the region is escalated, at least according
to the latest output from the Oklahoma Fire Danger Model:
