27.24 jigadroughts!

I don't know what Osage County or the southwest corner of the state did to Mother Nature, but we are *THIS* close to eradicating drought in Oklahoma. Impacts might linger, but we've received enough rain to satisfy all but 27.24 percent of the Drought Monitor authors. And since some of this rain fell AFTER the Drought Monitor's 7am (6am CST) cutoff point, maybe we can blast some more away on next week's map.

Obviously no drought in central Oklahoma, unless by "drought" you mean "water f flowing over the roadway and I was dumb enough to drive into it, can you call a tow truck for me?"

But all that rain, and what fell before in August, has slowly eroded most of the drought across the state. We've had big changes in the last week, the last month, but especially since the beginning of the year.

Prepare for a break in the Oklahoma tropics Saturday night into Sunday as we settle into a nice (except for those that still need rain) extended dry pattern.

Looks like Gordon will be mostly a bust for the state.

BUT! There will still be a chance for more rain tonight, Friday and into Saturday. Not much like what we've seen here lately, though.

So get ready for mosquitoes! And hopefully, more drought relief eventually.
