Rah Rah
WE GOT RAIN COMING, YES WE DO!
WE GOT RAIN COMING, HOW BOUT YOU?
Rah rah and whatnot...I don't have much time to Tick this morning so let's have
a quick Tock about what's coming this week. First off, rain. Lots of it if this
7-day forecast comes to fruition (why don't things come to vegetableition?), which
would actually extend into next week.
ZOINKS! Holy flash flooding, Batman!
(Narrator: "At this point, he realized he made a terrible faux pas, mixing a
Saturday morning cartoon reference with a DC Comics reference.")
Yes, giving the hard-baked nature of our soils due to drought, we will definitely
need to be on the lookout for flash flooding. This all starts Wednesday with a
possible round of severe weather. Severe winds and large hail are the most
likely hazard. There will also be a marginal chance of severe weather in the
northwest on Tuesday as the front moves through.
Here's the forecast rainfall from this first round of showers and storms.
Then we start it up again for the weekend, but at least Halloween looks very
Fall-ish for the trick-or-treaters. But first, we have to get through today and
tomorrow with near-record heat today and CRITICAL fire danger.
Today is not a day to fool around with. Our drought-starved vegetation is
primed for a spark, and more than half our counties have burn bans in place.
Let me remind you if you start a fire in a burn ban, you could be held civilly
liable (for the cost of putting a wildfire out) and also criminally liable.
Your local constabulary is liable to give you a bloody How. Do. You. Do.
More fire danger tomorrow and Wednesday, but not quite as bad as today.
Okay, let's dent this drought! Watch out for Wednesday, though...you don't want
hail denting your head.
