Round 3!

https://ticker.mesonet.org/archive/20230426/48hour-rain-forecast.png

Are ya angry at your favorite State Climatologist because you haven't gotten the
widespread 2-4 inches of rain promised? Oh, trust me, I know I'm also everybody's
LEAST favorite State Climatologist as well, since we only have one. But I also
know that some people have already gotten a good dose of rainfall, and in the
same vein as favorite/least favorite...others haven't.

But we've reset the crap out of these maps, haven't we (and we all know just
how painful that can be)?

https://ticker.mesonet.org/archive/20230426/mesonet.rainfall.quarterinch.png

And another dose is marching across the state as we speak. Heck, it's raining
right now for crying out loud!

Revisit those totals though. Some places received more rain in the last 48 hours
than they've seen in more than 6 months! Look at Goodwell out there in the
central Panhandle. The inch they've recorded over the last 3 days is more than
what they've seen since Sept. 10 of last year! That's 203 days for crying out loud
(I'm allowing my use of "for crying out loud" in this case)!

Well chances aren't over, as the top graphic shows. We have the current round,
and then another round tonight. At least with this upper-level storm system.
Folks in far southern OK should be on the lookout for a bit of severe weather.
No tornado threat, but hail and wind might kick up for a spell.

Maybe some rain chances as we get into Friday with another storm system, but
nothing like with this storm. Then we go into the dreaded northwest flow, which
means cooler than normal weather and dry with no flow from the Gulf of Mexico.

As for now...let it rain.
