The Panhandle, for instance, has seen rain a few times even during this time where the death ridge/heat dome controls our weather. Along that northern edge a few small storm systems can travel up and over the top of that ridge and bring rain; more precisely, thunderstorms. Well, here's the deal...here in the doldrums of late July, what you see is what you expect: heat, but nothing too extreme; rain in northern Oklahoma, but with all this heat and humidity other parts of the state could see a stray storm or two; and scurvy.
