More Heat

Brutal temperatures and heat indices got a relatively late start
this year, but have entrenched themselves as a staple for the last
three weeks or so.

Today, heat indices approaching 120 F have occurred at a few locations
in southeast Oklahoma. Air temperatures above 100 F are fairly
commonplace in south-central and southeast Oklahoma today.

Rain "Footprint" Visible

The after-effects of heavy overnight rains over a limited area within
Oklahoma are visible in this afternoon's weather conditions. Erick,
which observed more than two inches of rainfall last night, is reporting
a 3:00 pm temperature and dew point of 87 F and 72 F, respectively.
About fifty miles away, the Altus Mesonet station, which observed zero
rainfall last night, is reporting 98 F over 64 F.
