Wasps

http://ticker.mesonet.org/archive/20171204/eugene.png

I saw a wasp this morning outside the NWC! I swear on whatever hair follicles I
have left up top, it was an active "come near me and you'll be sorry" wasp!

IT'S DECEMBER 4TH!!!

Coming off the 13th warmest November on record, why expect different? I have grass
(no, not that grass...calm down law enforcement) growing in my yard, flowers
blooming, crickets, flies and more. Well, we're about to get our comeuppance.
Winter, or what we consider winter around here, is about to strike. Now Eugene
might be frightened in the map above, but as that front crosses the state later
this afternoon, we're going to see temperatures soar ahead of it, drop behind
it, strong winds on both sides creating high fire danger. Critical fire danger,
even. Stay tuned for our advisories page later today to check for any fire
danger alerts.

And things have gotten dry enough that we now have a couple of counties with
burn bans...Coal and Sequoyah counties.

I expect that map to become more populated as we go longer without rain. And
there is a chance of rain later today as that front barrels into southeastern
Oklahoma. We have ridiculously high dewpoints for Dec. 4, so maybe some of
that moisture can be squeezed out. There is a rather hefty dryline out across
NW OK. This ain't May, though, or we might see the conditions for big storms.

Right now, just some garden variety storms possible in the SE with not nearly
enough rainfall to make a difference. The 7-day rain forecast shows a bleak
week ahead.

Other than that, watch for record highs out ahead of the front, followed
by winter-ish weather for a week or so.
