Redder card

I had no idea my birthday would go off the rails Saturday, and no, I'm not 250
(and I don't look a day over 249!). Heck, I didn't even know there was a chance
of storms, for crying out loud! 90+mph (90mph+??) winds later here in Norman,
yada yada yada, no power, and it turned out to be a July 4 to remember.
Or forget.
The Norman airport recorded a 92 mph wind gust, and the Norman Mesonet site's
90.5 became the 7th (that's SEVENTH for the ordinally challenged) wind gust
of at least 89 mph this year recorded by the network, the other six having
happened during June. It's also the 41st-strongest gust in the network's history,
dating back to 1994.
We can't just do anything peacefully...Oklahoma's weather chooses violence way
too often. Even on my (and the country's) birthday.
Now we turn back to the dog days of summer. I guess the 4th would have been a
cat day, because that's how cats are. Get primed for the heat, because it does
look like we'll be on the above-normal end of the dial for awhile. And if the
air temps don't get ya, the heat index will.

The core of the heat dome looks to be favoring areas north of us, so that
means we should have a few rain chances here and there later on this week,
but nothing too big.
I probably said that last week, but look how that turned out!
