Borevember
November...the August of cool season months. Hey, I'm not saying it's USUALLY
this boring, but come on. THIS is boring. I don't mean to disparage August. It's a
fine summer month, what with its endless 100s and, uhhhhh...yeah, that's pretty
much it. November CAN have some excitement, with Thanksgiving snowstorms, brutal
cold fronts, and even severe weather outbreaks (remember last year's 6 twisters,
including a couple of EF4 monsters down in southeast OK, including the one that
hit Idabel on Nov. 4).
But that ain't this year, apparently. At least in the near future. I'm afraid our
big news this November is record (or near-record) heat. We started with maybe a
few record high low temperatures (as opposed to record low high temperatures,
jumbo shrimp, airline food, etc.).
And then we'll look at maybe busting a few record high highs (hey, High Highs
was my band's name back in the Peace Corpse...no, the Peace Corps wouldn't have
me) today and tomorrow. Probably more tomorrow down in SW OK rather than today.
I guess our big news this week is a cold front Wednesday night, which will
bring us back down to seasonal levels. Yeah, borrrrringggg.
This front will be mostly dry, but maybe a bit of rain showing up down in SE
OK.
A dry cold front in November usually means one thing. No, not that (make up your
own joke here)! Fire danger. As the temps go up and the humidity goes down,
we'll see fire danger spike Tuesday and Wednesday.
Other than that, we'll just wait for the temps to go back up over the weekend
and early next week. I've scoured the fantasy-casts all the way out to just
before Thanksgiving. I hope you like your turkey dry (and boring), because
unless we get a pattern change, it's gonna be a snoozefest.
Snooze-fests are supposed to come AFTER the turkey!
