All in good time
Snow? You serious? Snow? Why did you have to mention snow? Oh, you're now claiming
*I* brought up snow first? You think I can't just keep asking questions to avoid
the blame? You think you're Mickey Spillane? You think you're some sort of
writer? Okay, why *I* mentioned snow is that I had the song in my head for some
reason ("Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow") because it was such a lovely
grey (English to Okie translation: "gray") morning that I had the idea we should
have chili for supper tonight, and when I think of chili I think of snow. And
when I think of snow I think I wish it was summer again.
See, there is madness in my insanity. But don't worry, we're still forecasting
our first snow for Halloween, and our average first freeze is still a month or
two away, depending on where you live.
Now if you're talking earliest fall freeze, nobody can understand you because
that's not even a language! Who's crazy now? But if we are discussing earliest
fall freeze, whack a month off (and we all know just how painful that can be!).
But we're not talking about snow, we're talking about rain, and we have gotten
some very well-placed rains overnight into the morning. Take a look at the
new Drought Monitor map this morning, especially south central Oklahoma, and
where those rains fell.
POW! Yeah, that's important because south central Oklahoma was seeing their
drought increase by the week due to record dryness in the last 60+ days, as we
pointed out yesterday.
And if you look over the last 5 days or so, since we've had our weather
pattern reset, everybody's gotten *SOME* rain, but most haven't gotten nearly
enough. Kudos to NW OK and now parts of SC OK, however. Forecasts indicate
there's still a chance for significant totals, but not drought-busting totals,
across western OK.
If you miss out on the good stuff, then take a look at next week's outlooks
and forecast...maybe then will be your time.
The precise areas for heavier rain chances will shift around a bit, but at
least they're around at all.
Yes, chili, and yes...WITH BEANS! (insert evil laughter here)
