Jambalaya!

Yeah yeah, severe weather in spring in Oklahoma...lots of hail, winds, feared
rotating storms. Been there, done that. But what about the rain? WE NEED THE
RAIN! Well, some folks got plenty, and that's wonderfully fantastic for them.
Places like Hobart, Mangum, Altus, Minco, north OKC, Perkins, Skiatook, Miami...
well maybe I should just show you the map with clearly portrays where those lines
of storms formed and moved across. The pattern is clear.

What's also clear is that the area that needed it the most, from Cheyenne up
through Woodward to Cherokee and all points northwest...well, they got near-to-
nothing. Radar shows a few amounts close to a half-inch scattered here and there
between Mesonet sites, but still, mostly nothing. It's where drought has gained
a foothold, and the deficits continue to mount.

Now for two bits of good news:

a) It's still raining, and even the NW might get clipped here in a bit.

II) There is a chance for more good rains next weekend with a possible slow-
moving upper-level system coming in from the northwest. While this is still a
bit of a fantasy-cast, the 7-day precip totals from WPC look like drought would
be ended in a rather remarkable way for NW OK.

And now for the bad news...there's still a chance of severe weather today with
the ongoing storms across eastern Oklahoma.

Need rain? Get storms. It's that simple.
