A change is in the air
No, it's still going to be hot. It's summer after all. By the way, the highest
heat index this summer is 116 degrees, measured by the Nowata Mesonet site on
July 17. The highest actual air temperature of 105 degrees was recorded by
Buffalo on that same day.
Now back to the matter at hand. The Oklahoma Mesonet is getting a new website
with many of the features you asked for built into the design.
The new website will include:
* Local Forecasts
* Enhanced radar imagery
* Rainfall maps including radar rainfall estimates
* Searchable products
* Thumbnail map menus
* Ability to view local Mesonet data by zip code or closest town
* Links to outreach programs
Additionally, the new website will not require the WeatherScope plug-in. You can
test-drive the new Mesonet website for yourself at
http://test.mesonet.org/.
Personally, I love the new rainfall maps with the Mesonet totals overlaying the
radar estimates.
So you now have the keys. Get in there and kick the tires. Take it out on the
interstate and really open it up. Sorry, the clearcoat is put on at the factory.
We have to charge for that.
Expect the new website to go live sometime in August.
