October Mini Wrap-Up Preview Thingy
This is a FREE Sunday preview of our October monthly summary, discounted from
the normally low, low price of FREE. Is that a bargain or what? But of course,
you get what you pay for.
October was wet and cold. Some of you probably realized this already, but it's
just not official until your friendly neighborhood climatologist prints out
the numbers, right? Hey, just trying to stay relevant! So here are those
numbers.
The statewide average precipitation was 6.89 inches, 3.51 inches above normal
and the 5th wettest October on record, dating back to 1895. Wettest was 1941
with 11.32 inches. As usual, eastern Oklahoma paved the way for this lofty
ranking:
The statewide average temperature was 54.5 degrees, 6.8 degrees below normal and
the 2nd coolest October on record. That was a mere one-hundredth off the coldest
on record, 54.4 degrees way back in 1925. That really makes for an interesting
departure from normal map:
So there you have it. You can get a more thorough wrap-up when our October
monthly summary comes out in a few days on our climate website:
