Beneficial Rains Fall
The Ticker dislikes destructive weather like tornadoes and hail as much as any
other disembodied voice on the internet, of course, but convective
precipitation is Oklahoma's lifeblood. So regardless of PDS watch boxes,
gigantic hail and wedge tornadoes, we'll take whatever we can get. Especially
for those folks up in northwestern Oklahoma that have been drought-ified since
last fall. Here are the larger totals from this weekend's storm system from
the Oklahoma Mesonet and the National Weather Service:
ORIENTA 7.45 BRAMAN 2.89 FREEDOM 3 SSW 2.20
HELENA 1 SSE 7.42 WOODWARD 2 WSW 2.89 CAMARGO 4 WNW 2.18
KAW LAKE 6.48 WOODWARD 6 E 2.85 FREEDOM 2.12
MEDFORD 6.46 SEILING 7 WNW 2.59 WAYNOKA 2.10
MEDFORD 1 SW 6.15 BLACKWELL AT 2.47 ALVA 7 SSW 2.00
JEFFERSON 6.10 HARDY 2 S 2.43
WOODWARD 2 WSW 3.26 ALVA 1 NE 2.42
BLACKWELL 4 SSE 3.20 HARDY 1 SE 2.34
NEWKIRK 1 NW 3.16 NEWKIRK 8 E 2.30
FAIRVIEW 1 W 3.14 CHEROKEE 1 SSW 2.27
A few caveats:
1. Rain is still falling as of this Ticker's publication.
2. A few locations have multiple reports.
3. These are a mixture of Oklahoma Mesonet, COOP, and public reports.
4. I have no idea what "caveats" are.
To the dictionary!
