When It Rains, It Spans

Yesterday was the 207th day of 2007. Amazingly, at least one Mesonet
station recorded measurable precip on 179 of those first 207 days.

Perhaps even more amazingly, drought-stricken 2006 recorded 142 such
days during the comparable time period, which was WAY more than the
prediction from the Ticker Uninformed Prognostication Department.

The big difference? During 2006, on those days when rain was observed,
an average of 31 stations reported it. In 2007, that average has
bumped up to 45.

In other words, when it rained in 2007, it covered about 50% more area
than the average 2006 rain event.
