The Cold, Hard Facts

The possibility of a damaging freeze over the weekend brings a
multi-million dollar wrinkle to Oklahoma's collective brow. Orchard
crops, alfalfa, and winter wheat are three ag commodities that will
need to watch temps very closely over the weekend. The Oklahoma
Mesonet has made the following maps available to help monitor
the duration and magnitude of frosty temps over the weekend:

These maps will display, respectively, the number of hours below 32F,
below 30F, and below 28F since this morning. Each of these thresholds has
a special meaning for different commodities. In addition, each map will
display the lowest temperature reach during the period of interest.

Please note that these URLs are temporary and will be removed early
next week. The final tally will be kept in a more permanent place
on the OCS web space (i.e., the OCS front page and the Ticker).
