How Bad Is It?

As hot as it's been -- and it has been scorchingly hot -- temperatures
over the last week or two haven't made it into the top ten warmest
days in recent memory. Here are three lists, showing the ten warmest
days of the Mesonet Era (1994-today) in each of these categories:

Warmest High Daily Temperature, averaged across the state.
Warmest Low Daily Temperature, averaged across the state.
Warmest Average Daily Temperature, averaged across the state.

We've also noted the placement of recent days in the list.

One very noticible feature from this list: Seven of the top ten
warmest-high-temperature days in Mesonet history are from the month
of September. However, no September days show up in the warmest-lows
or warmest-average-temperature lists. The dryness of the atmosphere
during these months allowed low temps (and average temps) to drop
further than the July days that dominate these lists.
