Hard Freeze in Northwest Oklahoma
Greetings from the Governor's Agriculture and Economic Development
Conference, the temporary home of the Entire Ticker Staff. Speaking
of agriculture, this morning's weather is of concern to many growers.
Portions of northwest Oklahoma, including much of the panhandle,
experienced a hard freeze this morning. The temperature at the
Hooker and Boise City Mesonet stations dipped to 19 F during a
twelve-hour foray below freezing:
Here's a look at the Hooker Mesonet Meteogram:
As with all calm, stable, cold mornings, the actual severity and
duration of the freeze will vary with several factors. For example,
the local topography can play a major role, with low-lying and
protected areas subject to "pooling" of cold air and/or enhanced
in-situ cooling.
