Windy, Windy Day Finally Relents
Yesterday looked like it would be the windiest day in Mesonet history,
but relief came shortly after sunset that spared the day from that
dubious distinction.
Still, Wednesday was brisk, to say the least. Hooker's average wind
speed of 30.3 mph was the "winner" for the day. That value would've
been greater if not for some evening relief:
All told, five Mesonet stations in eastern Oklahoma had their windiest
day on record. They show up in blue on the following map of record
windiness:
April 17 in Mesonet History
Record | Value | Station | Year |
---|---|---|---|
Maximum Temperature | 102°F | GRA2 | 2006 |
Minimum Temperature | 22°F | BOIS | 2020 |
Maximum Rainfall | 6.57″ | MEDI | 2013 |
Mesonet records begin in 1994.
