Spring Fights Back
Greetings from Norman, where the entire Ticker staff plus some other
folks from OCS and the Mesonet just returned from a climatology
conference in Portland, Oregon.
May is a transition month in Oklahoma, during which spring and summer
often battle for supremacy. Summer's eventual victory is inevitable,
but spring landed a big blow late this week using its arsenal of
strong storms, heavy rainfall and colder air.
Rainfall totals exceeded three inches in a corridor from Stillwater
through Tulsa, and amounts of one inch or more were common across much
of the eastern two-thirds of the state.
The prevalence of cool air is evident in today's Mesonet high temps,
as compared to normal:
We'll be back to a fairly normal Ticker schedule next weeek!
