Heat Index Maps are Back
Many of nature's most beautiful cycles occur on an annual basis:
the arrival of the swallows of Capistrano, the migration of the
Monarch butterfly, the hopes of Chicago Cubs fans. Add to that list
the rotation of the Oklahoma Mesonet comfort index products.
This is the time of year that people gather to watch Mesonet heat
index maps come to life. You can find them in the Mesonet data pages,
in the "Data Plots" portion of the "Current Maps" section. Gray
values indicate uncomfortable conditions, while crimson and orange
indicate increasing levels of hazardous conditions.
Enjoy them for the next six months or so, until they go into
hibernation yet again!
