Frozen Wind Monitors

Over 75 stations in the Mesonet have experienced ice accumulation
on their wind monitors during the winter storm of the past few days.
You may have noted the lack of wind speeds, gusts, and wind chills
on many of our Mesonet maps.  We are in the process of setting quality
assurance "flags" for the wind data for each station that was affected
so that our archive can reflect these frozen readings.

Watch for the wind observations to slowly start returning on our
products and maps as the state begins to thaw over the next several
days.
