State Gets Cold Start
Most of Oklahoma's residents (and a few visitors, we reckon) woke to
a delightfully chilly morning today. Minimum temperatures were in the
40s or low 50s across most of the state. The lightest winds and the
coolest temps occurred in eastern, and especially northeastern,
Oklahoma, where a few records were clipped.
Here are selected lows from that region:
Cookson 44 F Jay 45 F Nowata 47 F
Westville 47 F Wilburton 47 F Bristow 47 F
Oilton 47 F Vinita 47 F Tahlequah 47 F
Miami 47 F Wister 48 F Pryor 48 F
Foraker 48 F Burbank 48 F Okmulgee 48 F
Antlers 48 F Bowlegs 49 F Stigler 49 F
Clayton 49 F Talihina 49 F Centrahoma 49 F
Shades of 1998, Part Two
Friday's Ticker relayed just how similar the rainfall patterns of
Spring 2000 were to the patterns of Spring 1998, which preceded a
severe summer drought. So, the cold night represents a break from
the similarity, right?
Actually, no. Chances are that any record low temperatures that were
established this morning in Oklahoma were breaking records that were
set or tied on June 6th, 1998.
