Winter 1999-2000 Appears to be 2nd Warmest Ever
Using preliminary data for February, the winter (Dec 1 through Feb 29)
of 1999-2000 ranks Oklahoma's second-warmest winter since record-keeping
began in earnest during 1895.
The statewide average temperature of 43.8 F for the period ranks only
behind 1992's value of 44.1 F as the warmest on record. This marks the
second winter in a row which closed as one of Oklahoma's five warmest.
Last year's average temperature of 43.1 F ranked fifth until being bumped
to sixth by this winter.
These statistics will be broken down by climate division on Monday for
Ticker readers. Have a nice weekend and enjoy the cool temperatures,
because they're at a premium this season!
